About Cedarwell

How Cedarwell Was Born

Cedarwell started, in a way, with a garage door that wouldn’t close. It was late on a Sunday, and a homeowner across town had spent the better part of an afternoon on the phone with one company after another, hearing the same three answers: we can come Tuesday, we can’t quote you over the phone, and no, we don’t carry that spring on the truck. When someone finally did show up, the price had doubled from the estimate, the work was finished in under an hour, and the invoice had a line item for a service call that was supposedly free. That night, the story reached us through a group of tradespeople who shared work when it got heavy, and it stuck. It wasn’t unusual. It was the way too much of the industry ran, and it had been running that way for years.

We didn’t set out to build a national family of home-service brands. We set out to be the crew that answered the phone on a Sunday, told the truth about the price, and left the house looking better than we found it. The garage door trade was our doorway into that promise, but the promise was always bigger. Over time, other trades began working under the same roof, held to the same standard. From our home base to the communities across the regions we serve, the idea spread: one care promise, many trades, every location independently owned and operated. That is how Cedarwell grew from a single frustration into a family of twelve home-service brands.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Garage Door Trade

The first garage door we ever worked on belonged to a house with a cracked driveway and a sycamore tree too close to the roofline. We remember the smell of the grease on the old torsion spring, the way the metal had worn smooth in the center where the coils rubbed against each other for years. The door itself was heavy enough that two people had to lift it together just to get it onto the track. It wasn’t glamorous work. It was honest work, and that was the thing that grabbed hold and never let go.

We spent years learning from the tradespeople who had been at it long enough to diagnose a problem by sound alone: the particular rattle of a loose hinge, the dull thud of a spring that has lost its tension, the scrape of a roller worn down to its bearing. The garage door trade teaches patience in a way few other trades do. Every job is a balance of weight and tension, and the room for error is small. Do it right and the door glides like it weighs nothing. Do it wrong and you’ll know immediately, and so will the homeowner.

What gets us out of bed now, after all these years, is the same thing that got us under that sycamore tree the first time: the chance to solve a problem that makes someone’s day harder than it needs to be. A garage door that won’t open means a car stuck inside, a morning derailed, a day that starts wrong. Fixing it well means giving someone their day back. That matters to us personally, more than any job title or growth number. If we weren’t doing this, we’d probably be restoring old machinery, something with gears and springs and a weight to it. We like things that are built to be repaired, not replaced.

Meet Our Team - The Person Behind Every Job

The person whose name sits at the top of Cedarwell is our Owner & Founder, whose background reaches back to that first garage door in 2007 and the years of hands-on repair work that followed. The founder learned the trade the old way: by watching, by doing, and by being corrected by people who had spent decades under the same springs before us. That training shaped the way Cedarwell works today, formalized through ongoing safety and technical education, and through the state-licensed, insured, and bonded standards every pro working under our name is required to hold.

What sets our founder apart from a technician at a corporate franchise is not a credential on paper. It is the habit of treating every job as if it were on their own street, for their own family. On weekends, you’ll find them restoring an old workbench or refinishing something made of cedar, and the connection between that wood and our brand name is not lost on anyone who knows the story. The work is personal because the founder never stopped seeing it that way. That is the commitment we carry into every home: the person whose name is on the door is the person who set the standard.

Our Promise to Homeowners

Every Cedarwell company, in every trade, works to the same care promise, and it is specific enough to be real: shoe covers and drop cloths inside the house, quiet tools when the kids are asleep, pet-safe products where there is a choice, a photo of the clean-up before we leave, and a written price before any work starts. That last part came out of the stories we heard in the early years, the ones where a quote turned into a surprise invoice. We decided the price would be on paper, in writing, and agreed to before a tool comes out of the truck.

We call our values the C.A.R.E. code, and each letter is a rule, not a slogan. Clean up like it is our own home. Ask before we move or touch anything. Respect the family’s time and quiet hours. Explain the price before the work. Good work, and a home left the way you like it, is our mission in plain words.

Our Credentials

Here is what you can expect from every pro who works under the Cedarwell name:

  • State-licensed: Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires.
  • Insured and bonded: The same rule applies: every pro carries the insurance and bond their state mandates, with no exceptions.
  • Experienced: Our roots in the trades go back to 2007, and the standards built since then inform every job we take on today.
  • Locally rooted: Cedarwell does not pretend to be from every town. Each location is an independent local business that agreed to work to the Cedarwell Care Promise.

Why do those credentials matter to a homeowner? Because a license means someone has proven they know the code and the craft. Insurance and bonding mean you are not left holding the cost if something goes wrong. And local roots mean the person at your door has a reputation in your community to protect. When you invite someone into your home, to work around your kids and your pets and your quiet hours, those are not details. Those are the whole job.

Rooted in the Communities We Serve

Cedarwell grew from its home base in Los Angeles, California, into a family of independently owned locations serving communities across the regions where our twelve brands do their work. We are not a single shop pretending to be everywhere, and we have no interest in that kind of reach. Each Cedarwell location is a local business, run by people who live and work in the community they serve. They know the streets, the building styles, the way the afternoon sun hits the west-facing garage doors in Los Angeles and makes the springs work harder in the summer. That local knowledge is the difference between a crew passing through and a neighbor who stays.
